We will be camping in Lower Pines this coming weekend (Aug 22-23) and I would like to do some fly fishing on the Merced river near camp. Is it worth it? If so, any advice?

I’ve been on holiday to turkey float fishing in the sea and caught to fish in an hours fishing using a fishing reel but I have a spinning rod.
What do I need to do to turn it into a float fishing rod?
